Novak Djokovic takes on old rival Marcos Baghdatis in the quarters of the Swiss Indoors on Friday afternoon.
After an unsteady start against Xavier Malisse on Tuesday, Djokovic eased through his second round clash with Polish qualifier Lukasz Kubot 6-1, 6-2.
"It’s great to play well again," he said. "I think I did play well at the start of the first match, and then I had big ups and down throughout the match. I had a lot of unforced errors and double faults at important moments, but it was kind of expected because it was the first match after six weeks after a big injury - probably the biggest in my career. Today is another story. I felt good on the court and I’m happy to go through."
Baghdatis enjoyed a superb opening round win, seeing off eighth seed Viktor Troicki 4-6, 7-(8), 6-2 before seeing off Switzerland's Michael Lammer in three sets in round two.
Baghdatis has been playing some mighty fine tennis recently but it'll be a surprise if he can trouble Djokovic who dropped just four points on serve against Kubot and he's loving this event, having reached the final for the past two years running.
"It’s a great tournament, obviously very strong main draw that we have, a lot of top players coming out; this year five of the Top 8 were playing in the tournament," he said. "It’s great attendance. People really appreciate and love tennis in Basel."
Djokovic leads 4-0 on the head-to-head and won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 when they met in the third round of Wimbledon this summer.
Prediction: Djokovic in straight sets.
