Novak Djokovic headlines the night session on the first day of the 2011 Australian Open.
Djokovic has looked relaxed in practise and interviews ahead of the first major of the year, joking with the media and his team and even catching a ball in his shorts during one session.
The world number three has good reason to feel confident. His off season may have lasted just three weeks after he led Serbia to Davis Cup success at the start of December but Djokovic has yet to show too many signs of fatigue in 2011, winning all his singles rubbers at the Hopman Cup, including a clinical straight sets win over Lleyton Hewitt.
Djokovic is of course a former champion in Melbourne, winning his only slam title to date in 2008 by toppling Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in successive matches. However subsequent years have been disappointing for the Serb down under, seeing quarter-finals exits in 2009 and 2010. Two years ago he wilted in the fierce heat against Andy Roddick, retiring complaining of breathing problems while twelve months ago Tsonga gained his revenge, outplaying a strangely subdued looking Djokovic.
Granollers is the world number 42 but his slam record is very poor and he has never been past the second round of a major. He competed in Auckland last week but showed no indication he can trouble Djokovic, losing in round two to Philipp Kohlschreiber.
