Novak Djokovic was honoured with the BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year award on Thursday night.
"Thank you for this beautiful award," Djokovic told BBC Sport. "I am very honoured and privileged to be on the list of great champions who have won this award in the past. Looking back on 2011, it has been the best season of my career. I won three Grand Slams and, who knows, next year, one of my goals is to go for all four."
Djokovic's incredible season has seen him nominated for numerous awards including the prestigious Laureus World Sportsman of the Year gong which will be presented in London on 6th February.
Djokovic joins an illustrious list of tennis stars who have won the BBC award including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer (who won it three times - 2004, 2006 and 2007), Goran Ivanisevic, Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi, Boris Becker, Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg and Arthur Ashe.
A panel of sports editors from British national and regions newspapers as well as magazines, voted Djokovic to receive the award ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi and Sebastian Vettel.
