Rafael Nadal says he’s just glad to be back on the court despite going out in the round robin stages of the ATP World Finals.

Much has been made of the lengthy calendar year for the top players with the season going on right into late November and Nadal has the Davis Cup final still to play next week. However after missing three months of 2009 with injury, Nadal said he’s had enough breaks.

“I am ready to practice hard and I have motivation to get back to playing my best tennis,” he said. “When you have goals and you are motivated, it doesn't matter if you are tired or not.  So I am ready to start practicing and to start playing in 2010. I gonna have a few breaks after Rotterdam. But that’s it until after Wimbledon.”

Nadal was not too perturbed about his early exit this week as he didn’t really expect that much given his form at the moment.

“I didn’t come here to become no. 1,” he said. “I said before the tournament that's not my goal because I don’t think I’m playing well enough to be no. 1 right now. To be out of the Masters, well, that's sport and everything can happen.  I didn't arrive at this tournament with the confidence that you need to win these matches.  And in the moments that I had to play well, I didn't play well. I made mistakes. Both matches I fought hard and I tried my best all the time, but it wasn't enough to win these matches.”
