Movistar Open final – Juan Monaco v Thomaz Bellucci

Juan Monaco was a finalist at the Movistar Open in 2008 and he will be aiming to go one better tonight against Thomaz Bellucci.

It will be the first match between the two players.

Bellucci scored one of the best wins of his career and the upset of the tournament when he ended Fernando Gonzalez’s twelve match winning streak at the tournament in Saturday’s semi-finals with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win.

Bellucci came back from a set and a break down, smashing 21 winners in the process to eventually break Gonzalez’s spirit.

Juan Monaco had few problems in defeating qualifier Joao Souza in just over an hour. He will be the fresher of the pair having made short work of the draw, dropping just one set en route to the final while Bellucci has been taken the distance three times.

Tactically the match could be decided by who comes out best in the cross-court rallies pitting Bellucci’s strong topspin forehand against Monaco’s favoured double-handed backhand.
