Movistar Open – Fernando Gonzalez v Thomaz Bellucci

Fernando Gonzalez takes on Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci for a place in Sunday’s final.

Gonzalez has yet to drop a set this week and remains on course to win the tournament in the same manner as he did last year. However he was tested for the first time this week in his quarter-final with Marcel Granollers on Friday night which he won 7-6(8), 7-6(9), saving set points in both tiebreaks.

Third seed Bellucci, who was pushed to three sets in both his opening matches had a much more comfortable passage in his 6-4, 6-4 win over Eduardo Schwank.

Gonzalez has faced Bellucci once before, winning 6-3, 6-4 in Shanghai in the autumn.

Anything other than a Gonzalez win, probably in straight sets, will be massive surprise. Bellucci is a good player on the dirt but Gonzalez is a class above as he finally showed at Roland Garros last year when he made the semi-finals.
