This tournament looks like it will answer a lot of questions heading into the 2009 US Open.  Notably it marks the return of Rafael Nadal and tennis fans will see if he will be a major force on the tour immediately or if he has some rust.

The best long shot that could potentially win the whole thing is Fernando Gonzalez.  He made the semis in Washington and everyone knows that when he plays his best he is virtually unbeatable given the pace he generates. However he seems to crack when under pressure, like in the 3rd round at Wimbledon against Ferrero.

The remaining value is with Juan Martin Del Potro and Andy Roddick.  Both players just finished an incredible final at the Legg Mason Classic in Washington with Del Potro winning the title (again). The final set went to a tiebreak and was decided by the slimmest of margins.
