Mischa Zverev is scheduled to take on Malek Jaziri on Sunday in the final of this year’s Geneva ChallengerYou can watch and bet on the ATP Geneva Challenger live for free at bet365 > live tennisMischa Zverev demonstrated great mental strength on Saturday in the semi-finals of the Geneva Challenger, battling back from a set down to claim an unexpected 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 victory over eighth seed Ricardas Berankis. After the season he’s had, it was a surprise to see the German claim the win from 6-1, 4-2 down.
Next up for Zverev is Malek Jaziri, who has also caused a stir by reaching the final. Nobody was talking about Jaziri’s chances of winning this event at the beginning of the week, but the Tunisian produced a reliable display on Saturday to oust second seed Steve Darcis in straight sets (7-5, 6-4).
These two players have never previously met in ATP competition, making pre-match predictions a little difficult. Jaziri is closing in on the top hundred, and form appears to be on his side. Zverev on the other hand is capable of mixing it at the highest level, yet injuries and a lack of belief seem to have held him back of late. This should be a fascinating clash.
