Youzhny looked down and out at a set and 4-2 down against Marcos Baghdatis in the quarters but the sixth seed hit back to come through 6-7, 7-5, 6-1 and score a crucial success in terms of his chances of making the ATP World Finals in London at the end of the year.
Youzhny has now won three straight matches against Baghdatis and his successful track record against the Cypriot undoubtedly gave him the belief that he could fight back.
Andreev made his second semi-final of 2010 with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win over talented Canadian wildcard Miles Raonic. Andreev ended the hopes of defending champion Nikolay Davydenko in the second round.
Youzhny has won two of his three matches against Andreev, both on hard courts. He ran out a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 winner when they met in Doha last year.
