Youzhny produced another strong comeback to book his place in the final. In the quarters he hit back to beat Marcos Baghdatis from a set and a double break down, and recovered from a sluggish start to reel off twelve of the last fourteen games to defeat Igor Andreev 3-6, 6-0, 6-2.
With six weeks of the season to go before the ATP World Finals, this is Youzhny's fourth final of 2010 and it could not have come at a better time. He will be aiming for his seventh career title having won the Munich crown back in May and finished runner-up in Rotterdam and Dubai in the spring.
Golubev is still riding a wave of confidence from Kazakhstan's shock 5-0 win over Switzerland in the Davis Cup World Group playoffs a couple of weeks ago and he has been the surprise package this week, stunning Robin Soderling in the quarters before battling to a 7-5, 7-6 win over David Ferrer in the semi-finals.
However Golubev has found Youzhny's variety of shot difficult to deal with in the past and the Russian has won all three of their matches. He beat Golubev 1-6, 7-6, 7-6 in Rotterdam this year and 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in round one of the US Open back in August.
