Michael Berrer will be in for a test on Friday against an in-form Lukas Lacko in the Bratislava Challenger quarter-finalsYou can watch and bet on the ATP Bratislava Challenger live for free at bet365 > live tennisMichael Berrer hasn’t had an easy start to this week’s Bratislava Challenger, and he’s needed solid third set displays in his opening two matches to earn a berth in the quarter-finals. He’ll be hoping for an easier time against Lukas Lacko on Friday.
The German is the seventh seed here, but was handed a harsh first round draw against Igor Andreev. After beating the Russian 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2, he was expected to cruise past the unseeded Ante Pavic in round two. This wasn’t the case though, and Berrer had to fight back from a set down to stay in the draw (4-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Lacko on the other hand is yet to drop a set, and he’s arguably had a tougher run-in than Berrer. The Pole stunned the crowd in round one by thrashing top seed Lukasz Kubot (6-1, 6-1), and he followed this up with a solid win against Jan Hajek (7-6(4), 6-2).
Berrer has a 3-0 head to head record against Lacko, though two of these wins required three sets. The pairing met in the semi-finals of this event in 2009, where the match was eventually settled in a third set tie-breaker. Friday’s match looks too close to call.
