American Taylor Dent and Spaniard Rafael Nadal will meet in the second round of the ATP Miami Masters event for the first time in their careers on March 26th and it should come as no surprise that Rafael Nadal has come into the match as the clear favorite.

The best price out there with Nadal is -1600 (1/16) with bet365, a price that cannot be touched at this point as it is way too short to use for any kind of significant return.  Dent's price with Boylesports is +900 (9/1) and that price is worth investigating to see if it is worth sprinkling as it is possible that it could be a little too long as Nadal has been prone to upsets lately.

Dent is currently ranked 83rd in the world at the moment and a lot of his ranking points are coming from the challenger circuit.  He entered the Miami Masters quite cold as he has lost 4 matches in a row although he did take a straight sets victory over Rainer Schuettler in the first round.  However that victory should not solidify confidence in Dent as he recently lost to Ryan Harrison when he was ranked 284th in the world. 

To find a precedent where Dent had a victory over a top 10 player you have to go all the way back to 2005 when Dent beat Guillermo Coria when he was ranked 5th in the world.  Incidentally that was a match at the Miami Masters as well and it should be pointed out that Dent has played relatively well at the event over the years.  However with his short term form there is no reason to take Dent at anything shorter than +1500 (15/1) and those odds simply are not going to be found.

There are only a couple of serious betting options with this match and they both involve set betting.  Either pound Nadal at -400 (1/4) to beat Dent in straight sets or sprinkle Nadal at +400 (4/1) to beat Dent in three sets, both prices are available with bet365.  The straight sets victory definitely seems very likely and -400 may have at least a little bit of value but the odds of +400 look more tempting especially since you don't have to risk much to create a possible good payoff.
