Martin Klizan goes for his first challenger title of the season against Argentina's Leonardo Mayer.
Klizan reached his second challenger final in the past month yesterday with a battling 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 win over Portugal's Frederico Gil, breaking into the top 100 in the process for the first time. However the Slovak can count himself pretty lucky as at one stage he trailed 7-6, 4-1 after making a slew of unforced errors in the first set and a half.
But then Klizan dug in from the back of the court and despite being two breaks down in the second set, he clawed his way back as Gil pressed the self-destruct button, winning eight consecutive games at one point.
Mayer's semi-final was much more one-sided as he ultimately had far too much class for Horacio Zeballos, beating his compatriot for a second time this season, 7-5, 6-1.
Mayer may be unseeded but he's been the class act in the draw this week, his baseline hitting is just on a different level to most of the other players. Klizan is super solid and a great fighter but he's had two long matches while Mayer is yet to drop a set. Look for the Argentine to take this in two.
