Marin Cilic had a tough ask against in-form Mardy Fish in the third round of the Legg Mason Classic on Thursday.

Fish was the form player on the ATP Tour in July, winning two titles back-to-back in Newport and Atlanta. It comes shortly after the American's run to the final at Queens Club in June and it has all taken him to the brink of the top 30. He took his winning streak to eleven matches by cruising past Viktor Troicki 6-4, 6-3 in round two.

It will be a tough match for fourth seed Cilic, who is hoping to re-ignite his game this summer. The Croatian looked set for a big year after January, a month where he won the Chennai and Zagreb titles and made the Aussie Open semi-finals.

Since then he has been solid but far from the world beating form he showed at the start of the year. Cilic has won both his matches against Fish in the past, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the 2008 New Haven final and then a five setter in the Davis Cup last year.

They always have close battles and this one could go to three again but do not be surprised if Fish pulls off the upset.
