Marin Cilic opens against Florian Mayer on day one of the Davis Cup tie between Croatia and Germany.

Going by the past history between these two countries, home advantage can play a huge part and Croatia will be hoping that the support of a packed arena in Zagreb can pull them through this tricky tie against an experienced German side.

Cilic should feel comfortable in the stadium, having enjoyed some of his best results in Zagreb, winning the ATP event held at the same venue in 2009 and 2010.

However Mayer has proved a problem opponent for him in the past. The lanky German knocked Cilic out in straight sets at Wimbledon last summer and beat him 6-3, 6-4 on this same court in Zagreb just over a month ago.

Cilic insisted in the pre-tie press conference that those results would have no bearing on the outcome of this rubber and he will be feeling more confident after a run to the Marseille final a couple of weeks ago.

However Mayer has the potential to spoil the party here and Cilic will feel under more pressure to  produce a result here with the inexperienced Ivan Dodig in action afterwards against German number one Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Prediction: Look for Mayer to pull off the upset in four
