It is a blockbuster clash with both players playing their best tennis of the year. Radwanska made the San Diego final last week and the Stanford semi-finals before that. The Pole had few problems against the dangerous Alisa Kleybanova in round two, winning 6-4, 6-2.
Sharapova drew the short straw in round one, getting newly crowned San Diego champion Svetlana Kuznetsova. However Sharapova has not been playing so badly herself, making the Stanford final and she battled past the Russian in three sets.
She will be confident of success against Radwanska as she leads their head-to-head 5-1 and beat her 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 in Stanford two weeks ago.
