Sharapova, as a seeded player, is through the first round of the Sony Ericsson Open.
Maria Sharapova, a player with momentum on the WTA Tour having made the Indian Wells semifinals, is the sixteen seed at the 2011 Sony Ericsson Open.
In Miami, Sharapova has a bye through the first round and then she will face the winner between Kristina Barrois and Petra Martic, two first round opponents.
Later in the draw Sharapova might face 18th seeded Nadia Petrova, 4th seeded Samantha Stosur, and then a quarterfinal against either Svetlana Kuznetsova or Na Li.
Sharapova is in Wozniacki's half of the draw and should the Russian make it to the semifinals in Miami, she would likely face the Dane who is on form having won last week's title.
