Baghdatis is playing his best tennis for some time right now, having reached the Washington final a few weeks ago and the semi-finals of Cincinnati. The Cypriot is now back in the top 20 and scoring wins over top ten players again.
He is chasing his second title of 2010 this week, having triumphed in Sydney at the start of the year. Andreev is a man in a slump at the moment. Once ranked in the top twenty, he now sits outside the top 100 and has been reduced to playing challengers so far this month.
However he defeated veteran Arnaud Clement 7-6, 6-3 in the first round here and that forehand can still be a devastating weapon when on song so Baghdatis should not take him too lightly.
He has played Andreev just once before, losing a five setter in the fourth round of the French Open three years ago. However that was on Andreev's favourite surface, Baghdatis is at his best on hard courts.
