Lleyton Hewitt will be hoping to lead Australia to a famous Davis Cup victory as they lead Switzerland 2-1 going into the final day.
Hewitt may have featured little on the tour this summer but he's peaked for this tie, pushing Roger Federer to four sets on Friday and then trumping his great adversary in Saturday's doubles, inspiring Chris Guccione to new heights as they took out Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 7-6(5) in searing heat.
Federer is favourite to level the match when he plays Bernard Tomic in the first of the reverse singles but you would have to favour Hewitt in a decisive fifth rubber especially in front of his adoring home fans.
Hewitt lives for these kind of matches nowadays and he insisted, “If I have to play a live fifth rubber, I’ll be ready. Bring it on.”
Unfortunately for Swiss fans, there were strong hints during Saturday's post match press conference that Wawrinka will not be able to play the final rubber due to leg inflammation which he's been playing through since the US Open. There are no replacements of a similar class. Switzerland would have to through in either Stephane Bohli (ranked 196) or Marco Chiudinelli (ranked 217). Surely neither would stand much chance against a pumped up Hewitt.
