Lleyton Hewitt made the quarterfinals at ATP Halle however the Aussie will still be taking a big hit in the rankings on Monday.
Lleyton Hewitt, after pulling out of the French Open in the 11th hour, made a return to the ATP Tour this week as he attempted a defense of his title on the grass courts at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany.
The Aussie appeared to get a stroke of luck early in the tournament when his first round opponent, Roger Federer, pulled out of the event citing a need to rest his groin.
Hewitt rattled off two wins to open his efforts in Halle however he fell on Friday to Philipp Kohlschreiber, a player who often does well in the 250 level grass court event.
As a result of the loss Hewitt will only earn 45 ranking points for his quarterfinal appearance at the event. With 250 ranking points scheduled to drop off on Monday, Hewitt's net loss will be 205 ranking points.
That will leave him a balance of 440 points remaining in his current total and that will send the former world number one down to about 128th on tour on June 13th.
