Hewitt shocked his fans on Sunday as his withdrawal from the 2011 French Open came just hours before the start of his scheduled match.
The Order of Play for Court Suzanne Lenglen at Roland Garros has been modified as a big name has been dropped and replaced by one that's not so big. Lleyton Hewitt was scheduled to make his return to competitive tennis today however he has withdrawn from the Grand Slam event and his replacement will be Marc Gicquel of France.
Hewitt was supposed to face Albert Montanes in a match that was scheduled second on Court Suzanne Lenglen for Sunday however the Aussie must not be back to tennis-shape after missing the last two months with a foot injury.
Hewitt is already ranked down in 64th on tour but he risks dropping out of the top 100 soon if he does not make a competitive return to the tour. Hewitt, for example, will lose 90 points for failing to defend his third round appearance from Roland Garros 2010.
Another tournament coming up is ATP Halle, a grass court event in Germany that Hewitt won last season. While that event is just a 250 level tournament if the Aussie loses all 250 ranking points he received for winning it outright last season then he should be ranked in the low 100s soon.
