Leonardo Mayer takes on Horacio Zeballos in an all Argentine semi-final at the Genova challenger.
The winner of this one will probably be favourite to go on and take the Genova title. Both these guys are former Argentine Davis Cup players and Mayer has been ranked as high as 51 in the world. He's now ranked 139 and due to the strength of this event he wasn't even seeded.
He's looked like a class act, progressing through the rounds without dropping a set and seeing off Portuguese grinder and third seed Rui Machado 6-3, 7-6 in the quarters. However he did make a few too many errors in that match which was basically high intensity hit and miss tennis and he'll need to be more consistent against Zeballos.
The 26 year old was super solid in seeing off Italian qualifier Thomas Fabbiano 6-3, 6-1 in the last eight and he's been as high as 41 in the world. However Mayer has had the edge in almost all their matches, leading 6-1 on the head-to-head. They met in Dortmund earlier this year and Mayer won comfortably 6-2, 6-3 in the quarters. Expect a similar result on Saturday.
