Petra Kvitova has made it through to the WTA Championships final with a superb three set victory over Samantha StosurYou can watch and bet on the action from the WTA Championships at bet365Petra Kvitova became the first WTA Championships debutant in seven years to reach the final of the prestigious event, as she defeated Samantha Stosur in three sets (5-7, 6-3, 6-3). The Czech seemed a little shaky in the opening set, but once again she produced the goods when it mattered. She’s been the standout player of the competition this week, even though she’s lost her focus at times.
"Sam was serving very well today, so it was key I was able to break her in the second and third sets,” explained Kvitova after the match. "It was getting very tough at the end. I had 5-0 and then she was playing very fast, hitting many winners. It was getting tough to concentrate on my service games. You never know what will happen when you play top players. But I served great the last game."
Kvitova will now face the winner of the semi-final showdown between Victoria Azarenka and Vera Zvonareva. The world No. 3 has had an incredible season, which included a title success at Wimbledon. It would be a huge achievement if she could cap off the 2011 season with a title success here in Istanbul.
