Kim Clijsters has cruised into the WTA Eastbourne quarters where she faces Victoria Azarenka.

Clijsters has looked a class apart from the rest of the field so far this week. She’s proved far too good for Yanina Wickmayer and Lucie Safarova. On paper it looked like a difficult draw but Clijsters has simply sliced through the opposition, both matches were over before they had even begun.

Safarova was dispatched 6-1, 6-0 in just 38 minutes, an incredible scoreline against a player regarded as having plenty of firepower in her game.

"It was a good one. Quick and perfect," Clijsters said. "I'm playing good tennis and that's the most important thing for me. I've always liked playing on grass."

Azarenka has not been wasting too much time either en route to the quarters. She began with an impressive 7-6, 6-1 win over fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska and then dispatched British teenager Heather Watson 6-1, 6-1.

Clijsters has beaten Azarenka twice in the past twelve months, both times on outdoor hard. The Belgian won 6-4, 6-0 on her way to the Miami Masters title a couple of months ago.

Clijsters is the hot favourite for the title this week and it will take a special performance to derail her. Azarenka is playing well but she has struggled in her two matches against the Belgian and it is hard to see it happening this time around.
