Kim Clijsters faces Vera Zvonareva in the last eight of the Rogers Cup.

Clijsters is lucky to still be in the tournament after producing a miraculous comeback to defeat Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the second round. Clijsters found herself staring at defeat at 6-4, 4-1 down but clawed her way back to win in three. She had a much more comfortable 6-2, 6-1 third round win over Wimbledon quarter-finalist Kaia Kanepi.
Zvonareva has enjoyed two convincing wins and she ended the winning streak of Agnes Szavay in round three on Thursday with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against the Hungarian.
Zvonareva has however struggled to shine since her return to the tour on the hard courts this summer. She was knocked out in the last 16 of both San Diego and Cincinnati.
Clijsters holds a convincing 5-1 head-to-head lead against Zvonareva but perhaps crucially, the Russian's win came in the quarters of Wimbledon this year. Clijsters looked like an odds on favourite to reach the final but Zvonareva ended her hopes with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 win.
