Kim Clijsters faces the first big test of her Australian Open campaign.
Clijsters is seemingly headed for a fourth round showdown against French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova. However before that she has to deal with the tall, athletic 19th seed Nadia Petrova.
Clijsters never had much trouble with Petrova in her previous career, outplaying the Russian four times and going by Petrova’s start to the season, she will have to play considerably above herself to trouble that record.
She had the dubious honour of being Justine Henin’s first victim on her comeback in Brisbane and then crashed out a week later at the first hurdle in Sydney to the Japanese veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm.
