Clijsters is returning to the scene of her extraordinary success at Flushing Meadows last year, winning her second slam just three tournaments into her comeback.

With many of the leading stars of the WTA Tour either injured or out of form, Clijsters is probably the favourite to triumph for a third time in New York. The Belgian warmed up nicely with victory in Montreal a few weeks ago though Maria Sharapova should have beaten her in the final.  

31 year old Arn should not pose too much of a challenge. The Hungarian is ranked 104 and failed to win a main draw match on the hard courts this summer, losing in qualifying in San Diego, Montreal and New Haven.
