Kim Clijsters takes on Ana Ivanovic in the fourth round on day seven of the US Open.

It's a battle of the former world number ones and it should be one to savour. Ivanovic has revived herself over the past month after two years in the wilderness. Instead of analyzing her tennis to death, her coach has got her playing instinctively again and the results have come. She breezed through the first three rounds here, destroying Jie Zheng 6-3, 6-0 in the second round.

Clijsters has looked steadily more impressive over the rounds and she eased past the dangerous Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-0 on Friday before commenting that she still had much to improve on. She will need to raise her game for Ivanovic who will not sit back and allow Clijsters to dictate play.

Expect Ivanovic to hurt Clijsters with some searing forehands and returns but her nerve has yet to be  properly tested in a close match at this tournament and when the going gets tough, Clijsters' more reliable serve and backhand will probably give her the edge.
