Henin is the favorite to win the 2010 French Open and does not appear to have a test in the first round.
The main draw for women's singles for the 2010 French Open starts on Sunday May 23rd and Justine Henin is the favorite.
Her first round match does not appear to present any kind of test as she has drawn 100th ranked Tsvetana Pironkova. This will be the fourth meeting between the two players, the first on clay, and Henin is undefeated against Pironkova at this point - a perfect 3-0.
Henin has been priced at -1200 (1/12) with Boylesports to win this match and truthfully the Belgian might be considered a much heavier favorite. Henin has a recent loss on clay as she fell early to Aravane Rezai in Madrid but Rezai went on the win the tournament and was below the radar at the time of their match so perhaps, in hindsight, the loss to Rezai should not be considered so shocking.
There's nothing in Pironkova's recent history that suggests that she is below the radar at this point in her career as she fell in Madrid to 72nd ranked Alberta Brianti in qualies. Pironkova also lost an earlier match to Tatiana Poutchek on clay in the Rome qualifiers and it would be shocking if she was able to beat Henin at the French.
Paddy Power have priced the Belgian at -400 (1/4) to win in precisely straight sets and that looks like a great betting line to pound for a top up as it is really hard to envision Pironkova taking a set off of Henin.
