Seventh seed Jurgen Melzer will meet Robin Haase on Wednesday in round two of the Monte Carlo Rolex MastersYou can watch and bet on the action from the ATP Monte Carlo Open at bet365Jurgen Melzer enters this year’s Monte Carlo Rolex Masters as the No. 7 seed, and will be aiming to reach the latter stages of the competition. The Austrian received a bye in round one, and should be feeling well rested ahead of his opening match, which will be against Robin Haase of the Netherlands. The Austrian has made a reasonable start to the season, but should be looking to improve on his 7-6 season record over the next two weeks.
Haase defied the odds to reach round two, beating Nikolay Davydenko in three sets to set up his clash against Melzer. The Dutchman appeared to be in trouble when he lost the second set of his first round tie, but displayed a great deal of resilience to clinch a hard fought 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win.
Melzer has a 1-0 head to head record against Haase, following a sole meeting in Austria back in 2008. This match took place on a clay court, and went into three sets. The general opinion is that Melzer will be able to double his advantage over
Haase, though perhaps things will turn out differently this time seeing as Melzer isn’t playing in front of a home crowd.
