Juan Martin Del Potro takes on Ricardo Mello in the first round of the Miami Masters.
Del Potro is in a 'loaded third quarter' of the draw and the unseeded Argentine looks set to shake things up again after powering his way through to the Indian Wells semi-finals last week. Any thoughts that Del Potro might still not be ready to compete with the world's best again with quickly dispelled in the Californian desert as the former US Open champion advanced through the draw, despite rarely producing anything like his best tennis.
Del Potro could cause a stir again this week though the sheer quantity of matches he has played over the past two months, could start to catch up with him at some point. He lies in a very competitive section and could face fourth seed Robin Soderling as early as the third round which would be an explosive clash.
The Brazilian Mello is unlikely to cause him many problems today. The left-hander is ranked 79 in the world and enjoys most of his success in South America, mainly on clay courts.
Prediction: Del Potro for a comfortable straight sets win.
