Juan Martin Del Potro has continued his end of season surge at the Valencia Open and he plays Marcel Granollers in Saturday's semi-finals.
Del Potro was disappointingly lacklustre during the summer's US Open Series but the start of the indoor swing has heralded a return of the player who sent shockwaves through the tour with his tennis two years ago.
He made the final in Vienna last week and he's taken that form straight to Spain and he looks to have a great shot at winning this ATP 500 title. Del Potro has yet to drop a set this week, dismissing such powerful hitters as Dmitry Tursunov, Kevin Anderson and Sam Querrery with the minimum of fuss.
However Granollers quite bizarrely always comes to life at this event. He reached the final here last year and so far this week he's taken out Alex Dolgopolov, Gael Monfils and St Petersburg champion Marin Cilic.
Del Potro should have more energy in the tank after his straightforward wins this week while Granollers has endured a couple of lung-busting three setters, particularly his gruelling 7-6(12), 3-6, 6-4 win over Monfils on Friday afternoon.
Prediction: Del Potro in two.
