Jordan Cox completes impressive Wimbledon campaign for America

Andy Roddick, the Serena sisters and the Bryan twins have made Wimbledon 2009 an impressive showing for America, and now USA youngster Jordan Cox has a shot at the Wimbledon junior title.

Andy Roddick is not the only American male with a chance to win a Wimbledon title on Sunday. Jordan Cox, 17, is in the boys final against Russian Andrey Kuznetsov.

On Friday, Cox outlasted his American doubles partner, Devin Britton, a University of Mississippi player, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 16-14. The marathon third set took an exhausting 84 minutes.

Cox had triple-match point at 14-13, however Britton rallied to hold. Britton crumpled in his next service game and the match, which lasted 2 hours 35 minutes, was over.

Cox, who trains at the Nick Bollettieri Academy in Bradenton. His advancement to the Wimbledon final was largely unexpected as Cox's current junior world ranking is 80.

Roger Federer is a former boys singles champion at Wimbledon, along with Stefan Edberg and Pat Cash.
