Johanna Larsson will aim for success on home soil when she meets Polona Hercog in the final of the Collector Swedish Open

Johann Larsson is currently on the right path to lift the Collector Swedish Open title this week, following a string of well-deserved victories. The fourth seed is now potentially only two sets away from winning the competition, having beaten her compatriot Sofia Arvidsson convincingly in straight sets in the semi-finals (6-3, 6-1).

Larsson’s opponent in the final will be eighth seed Polona Hercog. Hercog fought off a fierce challenge from Barbora Zahlavova Strycova in the final four, clinching a close third set to earn a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 win.
This final will have added importance for Hercog, as a success here would provide her with a maiden WTA title. She can expect plenty of resistance from Larsson though.

The only previous meeting between Larsson and Hercog took place this season at Wimbledon, where Hercog came back from a set down to win 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-4. It looks like Saturday’s clash will also be well contested, and it’s not easy to pick a favourite here.
