This will be a real battle of the big hitters with both men capable of dominating with big serves and hefty forehands.
There is unlikely to be much in it, it will maybe just come down to who serves better on the day.
Soderling has yet to drop a set against either Evgeny Korolev or Feliciano Lopez while Tsonga had a tight three set tussle in the last round against Albert Montanes.
Soderling has won both their previous matches in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 in Hamburg two years ago and 6-3, 6-3 last year in Shanghai.
Tsonga is probably the more comfortable of the two on outdoor hard courts. Soderling prefers either clay or indoor surfaces though his run to the last eight of the US Open last year proved he is capable of playing top quality tennis on the US cement.
