Jo-Wilfried Tsonga pulls out of Rotterdam

Live Tennis Staff - 7 Feb 2010

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has withdrawn from the ABN-AMRO World Tennis event in Rotterdam which begins on 8th February.

It is a big blow for the tournament which was already suffering the loss of Rafael Nadal from the field. Tsonga, an Australian Open semi-finalist last week, has pulled out because of a stomach injury.

"It bothered me in the quarterfinal against Novak Djokovic and in the semifinal against Roger Federer," Tsonga said. "I hope I'll be able to go back to training next week without serving."

Andy Murray is also not competing in Rotterdam. The 2009 champion has opted to take an extra week off before competing in Marseille and then Dubai.

The field is still reasonably strong with Robin Soderling and past champions Mikhail Youzhny and Michael Llodra all entered.
