Jelena Dokic opens the night session on Rod Laver against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.
Dokic is a popular figure at the Aussie Open after her memorable run to the quarter-finals two years ago. That was supposed to springboard a return to the top of the game for the former world number four but it has never materialised and she currently languishes at 137 in the rankings.
She did not look too impressive in the warm-up tournaments, suffering heavy defeats to Andrea Petkovic and Svetlana Kuznetsova but Melbourne always seems to bring out the best in her so you never know. She justified her wildcard with a 6-3, 6-2 win over world number 82 Zuzana Ondraskova on Monday.
Things get a little tricker against Zahlavova Strycova who has had some decent results over the past few weeks. The Czech won the Australian Open junior title twice and she stunned 17th seed Aravane Rezai in round one.
Dokic will receive plenty of crowd support but on form you have to plump for Zahlavova Strycova.
