Jarmila Gajdosova will be looking to pull off a big upset against Marion Bartoli in front of her home fans at the Hopman Cup.
Gajdosova made a superb start to the competition with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Anabel Medina Garrigues on Saturday. Australia may have gone on to lose the tie 2-1 but it was a confidence boosting result for the 24 year old against the experienced Spaniard.
Gajdosova has a huge amount of power at her disposal as she showed in the first and third sets but it's the concentration lapses at crucial times which have prevented her making further progress and she let Medina Garrigues right back in the match after dominating the opener.
She will not be able to afford such profligacy against Bartoli who's seeking her first win of the New Year. She entertained the crowds with a hard hitting tussle against French Open champion Li Na on day one but the Chinese player hit back from an error-strewn opener to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
However Bartoli will be more confident against Gajdosova, a player she's beaten twice in straight sets in the past, albeit in 2006 and 2007.
Prediction: Gajdosova to get a set but Bartoli to prevail in three.
