Ana Ivanovic has re-entered the top twenty with a victory in the final of the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions

Ana Ivanovic is once again a top twenty player following this week’s victory in Bali. In a final between two unseeded
opponents, she claimed the Tournament of Champions title with a straight sets win over Alisa Kleybanova. Kleybanova threatened to make a comeback in the second set, but Ivanovic stood her ground to win 6-2, 7-6.

Ivanovic was the World number one back in 2008, but injuries and a lack of form saw her slide down the rankings over the next two years. Back in July she as ranked sixty-fifth, and Sunday’s tournament success caps off a welcome return to form. The Serb is only twenty-three years old, and there’s every chance that she’ll break into the top ten once again.

Kleybanova is currently ranked twenty-seventh in the world, though this will change when the rankings are updated. She’s played more consistently this year, and is making great progress. At the age of just twenty-one, Kleybanova also looks like a player who can break into the top ten in the not-so-distant future.
