Ana Ivanovic worked her way into the semi-finals in Bali by beating Roberta Vinci on Thursday in straight sets

Ana Ivanovic swept aside the challenge of Roberta Vinci on Thursday, defeating the experienced Italian 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions. Ivanovic, a former champion here, played consistently throughout, and did well to get past Vinci in straight sets.

"I had fun out there today,” remarked Ivanovic after the match. “The crowd was really getting into it, I could hear them cheering for me. Roberta has been playing great. We've had a lot of tough matches in the past - even when I won in the past, it was always a close match. Today I thought I was very aggressive and played really well."

Ivanovic will now take on Nadia Petrova in Saturday’s semi-finals. Petrova earned the right to face Ivanovic by securing a 6-4, 6-3 win against wildcard entrant Peng Shuai.
