The Serb hadn’t won a WTA title all season prior to defending her crown here, and she’ll now be looking to take her encouraging recent form into the beginning of the 2012 season.
"I felt like I didn't do much wrong. It was a great match for me," said Ivanovic after the contest. It would be foolish to disagree. The former world No. 1 only lost seven points in the entire second set. "Anabel and I practiced together all week”, she continued, “so it was nice we got a chance to play each other on the last day of the tournament."
Medina Garrigues had nothing but praise for her opponent. "Congratulations to Ana. She was playing so well, I couldn't do anything today. She has been No.1 in the world and she's a very good player, and I'm really happy with my week, but she was too good on the court today."
