Ivan Ljubicic was ecstatic at finally winning a Masters Series tournament by beating Andy Roddick in the Indian Wells final.

Ljubicic’s glittering career has seen him amass nine singles titles, win the Davis Cup and an Olympic bronze medal in doubles as well as reach a career high ranking of three. However before Indian Wells he had not won a really big title despite several near misses.
“Looking at my career in general, I did feel like I was missing it. It's really a fantastic feeling to finally have it,” Ljubicic said. “It gives something special to your career. It makes everything look better actually.”
Ljubicic’s supreme serving, clocking up 20 aces was the cornerstone of his 7-6, 7-6 win over the pre-match favourite Andy Roddick.
Roddick had been hoping that the crowd support would give him an edge but he admitted that Ljubicic’s clockwork serving never really allowed them to get involved.
“When you're serving that good, it's kind of a buzz kill for the crowd,” Roddick explained. “Every time they tried to get going and there was a little bit of momentum, it was one and done. It was kind of like popping a balloon. He did it all day.”
