Ivan Dodig and Dmitry Tursunov will meet on Saturday in the final of this year’s UNICEF OpenYou can watch and bet on the action from the ATP Hertogenbosch Open at bet365Ivan Dodig has gotten one step closer to winning his second ATP title, following a 7-6(4), 6-1 victory over second seed Marcos Baghdatis. Baghdatis had been looking like the tournament favourite after trouncing Denis Gremelmeyr 6-1, 6-0 in the quarter-finals, but couldn’t grind out a second win on Friday. Dodig now carries the weight of expectation, though he’s got a tough match ahead of him in the final on Saturday.
Dodig’s opponent in the final will be Dmitry Tursunov of Russia. Tursunov hasn’t enjoyed his best season so far, but he’s demonstrated his grass court ability this week and could well claim a seventh career ATP title. The Russian also caused an upset in the final four, ousting Xavier Malisse of Belgium in straight sets (6-3, 7-6(1)).
Dodig and Tursunov have never previously met in ATP competition, making this a difficult match to call. Dodig is the in-form player, and appears to be the favourite. Even so, Tursunov has been impressive here, and shouldn’t be overlooked.
