Roddick is hoping to complete the set of North American hard court Masters Series titles having won Miami, Toronto/Montreal and Cincinnati while Ivan Ljubicic is hoping to finally win his first Masters Series crown at the age of 31.

Ljubicic has been the surprise package of the tournament with wins over Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal while Roddick has enjoyed fairly straightforward progress to the final. Robin Soderling was the only top ten player the American had to beat.
