The Hopman Cup 2012 continues on Sunday with USA taking on South Africa and Spain playing France in today’s matches.
In the day session that begins at 10 am local time, USA’s Venus Williams will be first on court and she takes on Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa. In their only previous meeting on the WTA tour, Williams had edged out Scheepers in three sets.
Following this, American John Isner will be on court to take on Kevin Anderson of South Africa in what should be a tough match given their past record. The two have met seven times before this and Isner leads the head-to-head 4-3 including a win in 2012 at the Shanghai Masters.
Later Williams and Isner will combine to take on Anderson and Scheepers in their mixed doubles match.
The evening session match-up will be between Spain and France. Fernando Verdasco takes on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga with both players having won two of their previous four meetings. Following this, Spain’s A Medina Garrigues will be up against Mathilde Johansson in what will be their first meeting.
In what will be the last meeting of the evening, Verdasco and Medina Garrigues take on Tsonga and Johansson.
