Gisela Dulko will face Canadian qualifier Aleksandra Wozniak in the second round of the WTA Monterrey Open

Gisela Dulko continued her recent run of form with a first round victory over Iveta Benesova here in Monterrey. The world No. 56 not only upset the No. 7 seed, but did so in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6(3). Following her title success in Acapulco last week, it seems like Dulko could be a contender for this week’s event as well. Her next match will be a second round contest against Aleksandra Wozniak.

Wozniak entered this competition as a qualifier, but had no trouble in getting through round one. She eased to a 6-2, 6-0 victory against wildcard entrant Ximena Hermoso, and should enter this match with plenty of confidence. Even so, Dulko seems to be the favourite to reach the quarter-finals here.

Dulko has a 1-0 head to head record against Wozniak following a straight sets win in 2007 at Indian Wells. This result is not necessarily indicative of what to expect here on Thursday, though recent form suggests that Dulko will prevail yet again.
