Gilles Simon faces David Nalbandian for a place in the last four of the Legg Mason Classic.

Simon produced the shock of the tournament on Thursday night by knocking out three time former champion Andy Roddick 6-3, 6-3. Simon had never previously beaten Roddick in three matches but produced a fine serving performance while Roddick looked physically below par.

It is only Simon's second ATP quarter-final of 2010. The Frenchman has been recovering from yet another injury but finally looks to be hitting form again this week.

Nalbandian has looked like the form player of the tournament so far. The Argentine has blitzed through to this stage without dropping a set, blasting past Stanislas Wawrinka 6-1, 6-3 and then destroying Marco Chiudinelli 6-1, 6-0.

Despite Simon's win, Nalbandian is the strong favourite for this one in our opinion. He has looked unstoppable against some very strong opponents.
