Zverev, once a regular feature on the ATP World Tour scene, has been in poor form throughout 2011, but has been more like his former self in recent weeks. Jaziri, at 27 years-old, is currently at a career high ranking of No. 134. Both players are unseeded here.
Zverev appeared to be in trouble in the semi-finals against eighth seed Ricardas Berankis, before turning things around in the second set. Berankis had no problems with Zverev in the first set, but he lacked cutting edge, and was unable to see off the German. After just less than two hours, Zverev clinched a 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 success.
Jaziri didn’t have as much trouble on Saturday, as he got the better of second seed Steve Darcis in straight sets. The Tunisian only allowed one break point on his serve, and this proved to be crucial as Darcis fell to a 7-5, 6-4 loss.
It’s difficult to pick a favourite for this upcoming final. On his day, Zverev has more than enough ability to pull through. That said, it’s hard to know what to expect from Zverev. Jaziri meanwhile, has been in good form this week, and is playing as well at the moment as he ever has.
