Tenth seed Fernando Verdasco faces Tomas Berdych in an enticing third round match-up in Indian Wells.

Verdasco and Berdych are two of the more unpredictable players on tour and among the game’s biggest hitters and if they both blow hot at the same time it could be one to savour.
Verdasco had the most comfortable second round match, a straightforward 6-4, 6-1 win over qualifier Ramon Delgado. Berdych in contrast was kept on court for over two hours for his 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win over Florent Serra, needing 13 aces to help see him through.
The winner of this match will have an excellent chance to pick up some big points and make the quarters after the withdrawal of Nikolay Davydenko from the tournament.
Berdych leads 4-3 on the head-to-head and he won both their last two matches on hard courts but that was back in 2007.
Recent form is a much more reliable indicator and while Verdasco won the San Jose title last month, Berdych has not done anything big. However he has been unlucky, beaten twice by Andy Roddick in very tight matches in the Brisbane semi-finals and the San Jose quarters.
