Baghdatis has made an improvement since linking up with his old coach in Los Angeles last week. The Cypriot fired 17 aces during a 7-6, 7-6 win over Horacio Zeballos in round two and battled past Illya Marchenko 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 in the last 16 on Thursday.

Verdasco has been far from his best this week and looked unconvincing in each of his matches so far. He had to save three match points to beat Michael Berrer in his opening match and then found himself a break down in both sets against Ryan Sweeting before hitting back for a 6-4, 7-5 win.

Amazingly these two have never played each other before. Neither is producing the sort of tennis they're capable of but Baghdatis has looked slightly sharper and is our pick to reach the semi-finals.
